General Aim

The aim of the sales sections are to offer all members a place where they can buy, sell or trade music on physical format (vinyl records, cds, tapes) which may be of interest to other forumusic members.

Sellers and buyers should treat the other party in the way they would like to be treated; mutual respect, friendly communication, prompt replies, accurate grading, fast payment and quick dispatch will all help to establish a healthy community that safeguards itself.


Guidelines for sellers

1. Please introduce yourself in the General Chat > Introductions thread first. It may be helpful to your sales / trades status to mention if you post on other forums under any other names.

2. All sales are limited to one topic per week per member with no bumping or reposts within the week.

3. Links to Ebay / Discogs / other sales must be annotated with a brief overview of items for sale that may be of interest to members.

4. MP3s of items for sale should be truncated into snippets of relevant length. No full tracks please.

5. Set sales should go to the first member who PMs unless there is concern about the potential purchaser.

6. On completion of a sale or trade please edit the original thread appropriately with ‘sold’ ‘gripped’ or similar in bold type. Please do this as soon as possible.


Guidelines for buyers

1. Please introduce yourself in the General Chat > Introductions thread first. It may be helpful to your purchasing status to mention if you post on other forums under any other names.

2. Contact sellers via PMs only, do not ask for an item to be reserved and do not post PM sent in the thread itself.

3. Be aware of the sellers' refund policy (if any).

4. Where Paypal is used for payment be aware of any drawbacks in using the "Gift" system. If agreeing to use this method it is advised that Paypal payments are via a credit card which will give some protection through the credit card company.

5. If you are unsure about the validity of a new seller or the items being offered share your concerns in the General Chat thread. In the long term this will help you and te forumusic community.


Disputes

1. Forumusic considers all sales between members as private matters and it is up to the members involved to amicably resolve any issues. Forumusic cannot intervene or act as an arbiter in any disputes.

2. Forumusic reserves the right to remove sales / trades / wants threads if a member is persistently breaking rules.

3. Wherever possible moderators will politely PM sellers before removing threads if concerns are being raised but this is not a given.


Advice to sellers

1. Make your topic title as genre specific as possible. Just posting ‘Some records for sale’ is not acceptable.

2. Make sure artist, title, label etc are accurate and clear and endeavour to grade records accurately. Be as helpful and informative as you can to purchasers. A happy purchaser is a future purchaser.

3. State postage costs and whether special postage rates are preferred when shipping overseas or within the UK. Insuring expensive items / recorded or tracked delivery of expensive items is essential protection for seller and purchaser. Ensure the location of items for sale is clearly stated.


Community

1. Where any members feel they have to comment on prices or descriptions in sales / trades threads please do this in a new thread in General Chat or contact the seller via PM.
