There's been various threads on message boards throughout the noughties; 'songs that make your arm hairs rise,' 'absolutely beautiful tracks' etc etc... and they disappear into the morass of other threads. Shame!

Picked up a copy of this a few weeks ago after a long wait (arguably too long....). Probably coming to a mix CD at the other place this Xmas...

I heard this in a bar in Nottingham a few years ago and have been keeping an eye out for a cheap copy ever since...

Good call! Arm hair raising belter. Follow it up with Dionne Warwick - You Can Have Him (which for some bizarre reason is not on YouTube????)...then crank it up with this.

Who said arm hair raisers need to be slow? :)

Good call on the Bobby Caldwell and there's nothing wrong with sticking 'known' ones in here! I'd like to think some musically inquisitive college student would stumble upon a thread like this and go 'Whoah!, some great stuff here.' Nobody 'knows' everything!

So having completely justified the posting of 'obvious' ones here's the other brilliant Bobby, the langourous, lazy drummed outro of which I could have on repeat for days and never tire of....

Excellent, excellent choon...Enjoy

Indeed.

How about fast and one note? And 8 minute plus?

Can't stop playing this.

This kills me, so so so beautiful on so many levels, god this is surely one of the closest things to aural ecstasy ever made.

Raw rockabllly madness is not my area at all but I like that one. I know you'll know probably these ones but they 'face melt' me when I hear them on the right day.

This is actually Glen Campbell.

And one I have on a great compilation series from the late nineties that was called 'The Golden Age Of American Rock n' Roll.'

Apologies for posting this not very obscure song but I was in B&Q this morning and it started playing. Definitely a 'face-melter' for me.
The Drifters - Like Sister and Brother

Love that Drifters. I remember it well from my childhood.

Any songs with that kind of seventies sitar sound and warm strings. People don't seem to talk about Philly Sound much these days, but then again I don't go on Soul Source or DJ History much which would probably be the place for that.

Love this whole song but the piano at the start is the 'face-melter' for me. Need it on a loop!

Natalie Cole - La Costa

I think I must have joined since this thread started, as it's new to me. Nice to see people brave enough to post up tunes which"do it" for them.I'll chip in with this one, an old Melanie tune, beautifully covered by Dion. Kills me!

Here's a couple of classic Mexican serenades that get me all worked up. Blokes with moustaches singing like angels, that slightly delayed sticky guitar. Love it.

Incredible voices in both of these clips. The Malaguena top one in particular is almost other- worldly.
Thanks for sharing.

Browsing the Waxi thread on Perfect Songs (http://waxidermy.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20861) this morning, pondering the fact that a perfect song and a face-melter are not always the same thing.

Always like looking at others 'fave' lists.
