Mentioned in the fanzine thread but worth a thread of its own.

This arrived yesterday and it's surprisingly good. Recordings from a whole bunch of local artists from the Bradford area. A proper mixed bag of styles from the obligatory local blues band through punk, SSW, Beach Boys-esque and 80s synthy New Wave stuff.

The standouts for me are
2: Siamese Twist - Liquid Eyes: proper New Wave-ish synth disco that morphs into a great Housey analogue break. Feels like 1981.
11: The Sentimentalists: Northern Soul: Maudlin but lovely Aidan Moffat style tune about being broke and having to sell your Northern Soul records to pay for the electricity. Lead singer has a brilliant voice imho. Unique sound. Bacharachesque horns a plus too!
12: Oiseaux Pointu - Villepinte: Simple as hell 6-minute PINA-esque washes of synths and bells that's a beautiful listen.

Well worth £3.99 from Ebay with free P&P (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271135168519?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) and comes with a colourful A3 foldout with info / links to the band.

I'd love to see more areas doing something like this to promote their local scenes.

Big thumbs up! Off to get Vol. 2 now (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271131760667?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649).
