It's that list time of year again and lists and rundowns seem popular here. The Album Of The Year website collates the best albums from each source (NME / Pitchfork / Drowned In Sound etc) but clicking on each one it has also added the way the LP was rated by a host of other sites.

Album Of The Year's Best Albums of 2012 (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/6-highest-rated/2012/1)
Pitchfork Best Albums Of The Year (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/1-pitchfork-highest-rated/2012/1)
NME Albums Of The Year (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/9-nme-highest-rated/2012/1)

Drowned In Sound (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/3-drowned-in-sound-highest-rated/2012/1)

PopMatters (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/7-popmatters-highest-rated/2012/1)

And so on. And on. And on.

Here's the Album Of The Year spreadsheet (http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/overall/2012/) ;) collated from every website.

Well done Frank Ocean, Swans, Kendrick Lamar, Fiona Apple  and Tame Impala

I am absolutely delighted the Jake Bugg lp does not feature anywhere at all in that crazy 555 lp spreadsheet. Too late to figure i guess? and not adopted by any countries outside the UK yet.

Great!

It's very strange the way the collated chart skews things. Django, Django are not there either and I can't believe how low Pond - Beards, Wives, Denim is. It's odd how different the charts are generally and how odd lps feature highly in one and not in others. On those music websites run by about three people in an office they're bound to influence each others taste by how often they play stuff so none of this can be taken very seriously.

Frank Ocean lp is a deserving number one and could have been number one in whatever year it was released. It's a beautiful lp and should be heard well beyond hip hop fans.

I had no idea Sublime Frequencies did 45s. Good move on their part. Off to check that out now. Cheers.

I've been spinning the Django Django double lp all week and it's brilliant. So much good stuff this year.

Roy Porter rightfully gets several mentions on the Essential Modern Soul forum Best of Year thread (http://www.essentialmodernsoul.co.nr/). Honourable mentions for Robert Glasper Experiment - Black Radio lp too, must check that out,,
