I know there's not been much folk mentioned on here but I just ordered the debut Lp from One Mile An Hour. Check them out if you like a warm folky sound.

Lp is for sale directly from the website.

Good for you for mentioning it. I know that to lots of people folk is just a four letter word! A few years back I was avidly watching the rehabilitation of Davy Graham as a live performer. It was very frustrating. In between getting his fingers in knots, attempting to play the most rediculously complex tunes, were moments of sublime musical brilliance. The spin-off was that I was introduced to some amazing new talent. Rick Tomlinson (Voice Of The Seven Woods), being a bit of a revelation, but also James Blackshaw who I saw a few times, and always amazed.

Thanks for the One Mile An Hour tip. Sounds promising.

Nice! Love that Freight Train taster on the One Mile website. Fingers crossed it's on the lp.

Very Pentangle- y in a good way.

Blimey that's some playing and a half...great stuff.

I never got around to getting any Voice if the Seven Woods stuff but couldn't resist the first Seven Thunders single. I thought he was going to do a Spizz and subtly change his band name every year! :p

Just saw the One Mile An Hour lp highly recommended over at Mudkiss, the buzzy internet fanzine (http://www.mudkiss.com/musicreviews.htm)alternative to NME / Pitchfork.

Interesting reviews of singles and EPs from October (http://www.mudkiss.com/chumkioctobersingles.htm) from the wonderfully enthusiastic Chumki Banerjee.

Somewhere else to whittle away a few hours...
