Well spotted. Juno give you more clips, and are cheaper. I'm all spent out at the moment, if not I would deffo be picking up the instrumental vinyl, killer tunes

Just noticed they put out a CD in July (http://www.juno.co.uk/products/rare-funk-vol-0/461325-01/)just before the September release of the above. Three releases counts as back with a bang. Perhaps mama needs a new pair of shoes or sumfink.

Maybe it's time for the 'concept' boot: Beat Actione Part 2?

Intricately plotted like a Prog lp with a full background story to link the tracks it was unfortunately shelved in the early 00s and never released. :(

I can understand the arguments given for boots in the past, the "pre-internet" age, but not now. There are some great labels releasing quality comps with the real rare stuff all legit.

Agree 100%. It's not rocket science at all these days to track down artists / label owners etc.
Excited by some obscure tracks from the 60s a few weeks ago it took me less than an hour to find contact details, contact them and speak to them in person.

In the research i've done so far into Pre-internet boots I'm incredulous at how few people got chased at all and I suspect it may have been something to do with the boots mainly being released on vinyl which the major labels considered a dead format, unsellable in large enough units to bother them.

I should have added to my advocacy of the unreleased planned boot Beat Actione 2 that it could now be done legitimately; i.e as a 90s boot in spirit only!

Do the record label owners/publishers give you gyp or is plain sailing once the artist says yes ?

The only gyp we've ever had is with the majors, convincing them that yes; they do own this particular track, regardless of what their computer is telling them, and please can we pay you to use it.

Mad.

Once the owner of the track has said yes it's all been very straightforward. (so far!)
