Funny where even lazy arse Google research leads.

Smashing nightclub, hosted by Matthew Glamorre with DJ Martin Green is frequently cited as a lead-in to 90s Easy Listening. Matthew Glamorre's club credentials stretch back to 80s clubland and he was also in the 'Art Rock' band Minty with 80s fashion icon Leigh Bowery.

I remember Bowery well from reading ID magazine in the 80s (I still have the crudely stapled Issue 1). I'd forgotten what a colourful character he was.

Lots of his outfits are featured in this Minty - Useless Man video. (I quite like it, and the VG+ Swap mix is looming.:D)

****WORK WARNING! Great visuals / absolutely filthy lyrics**** (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hooyoX61W1o)

Nice stage act Minty had which involved Leigh Bowery giving birth. See the whole sequence here in lurid Polaroid (http://thestimuleye.com/tag/leigh-bowery/).

That's it. We need a Theatrical Bands thread.

I actually saw them twice... Once at Bedford Esquires, and once supporting Pulp (I think) in Birmingham.

Id like to say that I was wearing a riot of velvet, tinsel and sequins but I am ashamed to say that my attire would have been the mid 90s britpop uniform of vintage adidas, cords and skinny "nubiles (http://www.myspace.com/video/the-nubiles/layabout/8740859)" tshirt ("skinny"... those days are long gone :D) all probably bought from Neil and Kev at Planet Clothing. All pretty much de rigor in Bedford at the time  . The only sparkle in my wardrobe would have been my My Life Story t-shirt...
