Very weird that the Internet is now so old it's possible to get nostalgic about older sites. I remember some Vg+ errs getting nostalgic when someone posted up the older version of the original site ( with the scratched black frame).

One of the first music websites I found and really enjoyed looking at / reading when I first got a home computer ( belatedly around 2003 / 2004) was Show And Tell Music and it's still there in an updated format.

Very much a precursor to Waxidermy in it's love of strange / diy / private / outsider lps. Started by Will from Companion Records who frequents Waxi, it's still a great site and I'm about to indulge in some of the reissue CDs that definitely weren't there when I first saw the site.

Well worth checking out a few of his favourites. (http://www.showandtellmusic.com/music/a_few_of_my_favorite_records/)

Two venerable sites I've had a long relationship with are the Brazilian pages by Joe Sixpack at http://www.slipcue.com/music/brazil/brazillist.html and http://www.soulwalking.co.uk/

Senhor Sixpack used to really piss me off by regularly giving sniffy reviews to records and artists I loved, from Milton Nacimento to Quarteto Em Cy, but I've long since got used to that and have come to appreciate his fondness for classic samba artists (also helped by the terrific jthymekind blog). It's a great project and easily the best of its kind that I know of in English.

Still look at soulwalking once in a while - years ago it was brilliant for info on modern soul and the time around 2005 he was forced to take down huge chunks of the site was a huge blow to many, I reckon. Toby seems like a genuinely nice bloke and I'm dead glad he's since met Keni Burke. for whom I share his admiration.

there was another long dead site called, I think raregrooves.co.uk that I used to salivate over. Basically a huge sales/wants list of mouth-watering stuff that I'd never heard of, but which whenever I picked one up woudn't disappoint: I wish I'd printed it now.
