View Full Version : Ad-Rhythm: Complete Discography

Some considerable time ago I was trying to put together a complete discography of North Harrow's finest organ label.
This is as far as I got using Discgs / Ebay and a very useful list on a defunct website called fonorama (or similar).

If anyone can help with any blanks or has numbers that go beyond the ones here just give us a shout?

Thanks!

PS: I'm aware there are Ad-Rhythm 45s! I'll add them later on...

I have an Ad Rhythm LP by George Wright called Flight to Tokyo which I can't see on your list. I'll check it when I get home tonight and report back. Hopefully this is going to be an article?

The 7 or 8 I own are on there Ian mate.

So which ones are any good, there's two I'm still after that I know are worthy ('Baldwin soul' and a classical one Lee played, who's name escapes me!)?

1973: ARPS 8005 KOICHI OKI Vivaldi-Four Seasons

I've been led to belive it's a tough one to find and you are liable to flip right past it as it looks like a proper classic record not an off it's nut fuzz guitar and organ freakout :D

I found an old VG+ thread last night where you recommended it and posted a picture. I'll upload it here later on. I'm going to try and pull together a complete 'Wall of Ad-Rhythm' and then review the tasty ones. I bought one of Len Rawles' last night so I've just completed (i think?) the mini Ad Rhythm set that feature Chris Karan on drums.

Just had a quick flick through my Ad Rhythms and i have 2 additions and a couple of corrections..

1975 : ARPS-1026 EDMUND HOCKRIDGE & BRYAN RODWELL Hockridge Meets Hammond (the only Ad rhythm i have found with vocals on... unfortunatly its pretty crap)
ARPS-2004 is LOVE sensations not Latin Sensations. (great sleeve and a couple of good tracks i posted on the VG+ forum a while ago)

ADBS-1 is Electronic Organs Today
ADBS-2 Hammond Organs Today
ADBS-3 Hammond Organs Roday Vol 2

Hope that helps..

I had a look last night and found another one that's missing from your list. George Blackmore's Hammond Serenades Strauss is ARPS 1024. It's not particularly interesting musically though.

Here's some Koichi Oki ephemera that indicates this had a Japanes release. Dig the drums :)

Added on! And in a future site update at some point I'll add the Phase 4 you found to the website. Many thanks!

Good find! I suspect that whole run which includes Hidemi Saito and Yuri Nishimura were sub-licensed to Ad-Rhythm. The sleeve notes of those two both say 'An original recording and licensed by the Yamaha Foundation for Music Education, Tokyo, Japan'

I was mulling over these releases on the way to work the other morning. They must have reflected a boom in home organ sales from the late sixties through to the mid-70s. I like the way they cross over into synthesisers as well, maybe about the time synths began to be affordable? Kind of reflects the relationship between the affordability of MPC's / Roland 808s and Hip Hop.

Edit: Just added a couple more I found on the back of the Electronic Organs Today Vol. 2. Les Bonner / ARPS 5001 and Dean Herrick / ARPS 7004
There's also a track on the lp that's not credited to any Ad Rhythm release. Dick Barrell - Harry Lime Theme.

Curious about Dick Barrell's Harry Lime Theme, uncredited to any lp but credited as being played on the Riha organ, I found this rather nice forum:
The Organ Forum (http://www.organforum.com/forums/forum.php?)

Bloody busy it is too! I bet there's an Ad-Rhythm thread there....:)

If you want to argue your point of view on such issues as pipes vs. electronics, trackers vs. non-trackers, and the politics of the organ world, you'll love this forum.

ADOR-3 is titled `All you need to do is play the HAMMOND`
Arps 4004 is Harry Stoneham-Lowrey organ Fever
4002 and 4003 were previously released by Tepee with `Superb` being `Two Fellas to Follow.
Dynamics was relased earlier too as `At you Request`

On Two Fellas the right channel seemed to be all reverb whereas they seem to have equalised it out on Superb.

Ian,
ive been doing my own list and managed some additions from yours to mine.
Some missing on yours are,
ARPS 7005-Rodgers and Hammerstein-Eric Smith (at the organ of Melbourne town hall)
ARPS 7006 Stardust Basil Cuthbert
ARPS 1027 Hammond 40th anniversary album
ARPS 2005 Harold Smart /Power songs to all our friends
Just got a bit gozzy eyed looking between the two lists but it looks like were getting there.
Found some on your list i didnt even know existed.
Some must have been pressed in their thousands like Travelling Hammond Keith Beckingham.
ARPS 4000 Lowrey Bar Combo

On the Dick Barrle track,he was a local organist to me in Ipswich and never did anything much.Maybe his track was a tester that didnt make it to an album.
