I heard a very mellow jazz version of Boys Dont Cry in a supermarket today. I don't know who it was but it was plucked guitar and vocal sounding a bit like Everything But The Girl.

I know Miles Davis loved Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time and did a version of it.

Given that in earlier generations jazz artists repeatedly did versions of what came to be known as jazz standards, does anyone know of any other very obviously 80s or 90s tunes that jazz artists have covered?

Here's a list of cover versions of Boys Dont Cry (http://jacyk70.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/cure-boys-dont-cry-cover-versions.html) D if that's any good?

As for jazz cover versions of 80s hits by others I can't help I'm afraid except to say Paul Anka - Rock Swings....which are jazzy-ish versions of 80s and 90s stuff including a lovely mellow Love Cats.

EDIT:

Is this the one you're after????

Wonder if Ms Simonal is any relation to the Latin Simonal?
