Whenever Robbie Vincent played the smooth jingle 'the long hot soulful summer' it was always followed by something wondrously DX7-ified or some old soul classic.
I have that jingle on tapes of his old shows followed by tunes like the Isley's 'For The Love Of You,' Richie Cole's 'New York Afternoon' or Natalie Cole's brilliant 'La Costa' with it's gorgeous seagulls, piano and strings intro.
And I got a little something through the post today which didn't cost as much as I thought it would....

And I confess without embarassment I love Stock, Aitken and Waterman's version of New York Afternoon just as much! Cuica madness / summer shizzle.

I'm going to post a load of 80s smooth here throughout this summer regardless of interest...
OK. Back to yer Psych raers.... :)

(And this is isn't a pre-amble to an interview with Voices Of The Shadows man Rod Dearlove. No Sirreee.... )
*The long hot soulful sound of Summer" what a great show it was too , still got few of the programs on cassette , gonna have to dig them out now

That brought a smile to my face. That was a Massive Robbie spin back in day. He must have played that every other Sunday for about three months.

Thanks Soylent :) ...some absolute beauties there. Need to revisit Perri, I only ever spin their gospel version of Caves of Altamira and the winsome but lovely No Place To Go.

Thanks for posting this one which I didn't know at all. I dont know if it was Robbie Vincent or Andy Peebles after him who bigged up Sam Dees After All but i remeber the real soul crowd declaring this an instant masterpiece.

DX7 sounds / Anita Baker and the God-bothering Winans are perfect for this thread I think?

But if you're after deep soul class for just a few dollars then this is unbeatable.

OK it's not 80s, but I heard it in the 80s and Robbie Vincent could have played it.:)
