There....that should make it easy to find in the future, and thanks to Eruditio for the heads-up.

Click around to find end of year 'Best Of' lists from magazines you know and magazines you don't. Not just UK either. Instant 'musical flavours of the year' in a few clicks and some debatable lists too.

NME / Uncut Magazine: 501 Lost Songs (http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/NME_LostSongs.htm)

Lists By Publication (http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/publications.htm) Click on any of them to find ...erm...lists.

Uncut: 50 Greatest Bootlegs (http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/uncut.htm#bootlegs) Note the absence of any 90s boots.

NME: 100 Albums You've Never Herd (http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/nme_soundtrk.html#lostalbums_2)(sic) Scroll down halfway to find Selda! Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left! Actually I'm being a tw*t. There's dozens of lps on the list I've never heard of.

Elvis Costello's: 500 Albums You Need (http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/elvis_costello.htm) Author on here needs to seriously sort out his spelling of 'heard.'

And on and on....

Fun.

I like the idea of the NME's Near As Dam Perfect First Albums (http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/nme_d&d.html)list.
There must be a lot of other first lps that are great though surely?
Jorge Ben? Tom Petty?

And it's not hard to see there are hardly any lps from the 50s / 60s or early 70s in there. A list compiled from people whose favorite period / halcyon days were 75 to 85?

1. Patti Smith - Horses (1975)
2. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures (1979)
3. The MC5 - Kick Out The Jams (1968)
4. The Jesus And Mary Chain - Psychocandy (1985)
5. Television - Marquee Moon (1977)
6. Billy Bragg - Life’s A Riot With Spy Vs Spy (1984)
7. Van Morrison - Astral Weeks (1968)
8. De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising (1990)

10. The Smiths - The Smiths (1984)
11. ABC - The Lexicon Of Love (1982)
12. Dexy’s Midnight Runners - Searching For The Young Soul Rebels (1980)
13. The Wedding Present - George Best (1987)
14. The Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops (1984)
15. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground And Nico & Andy Warhol (1967)
16. Buzzcocks - Another Music In A Different Kitchen (1978)
17. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside (1978)
18. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (1989)
19. Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine - 101 Damnations (1990)
20. Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True (1977)

NME innit? And it was compiled in 1992, which cancels out the last 20 years. I would have thought Talking Heads 77 would have been a cert though!

I recognise and can hum a few tracks from most of the NME list for 1981.

I dont recognise many from the NME list for 2011.

I'm tempted to write a song with that title.

I knew having the words 'list' and 'lists' would make this thread easy to find. Apologies if you've seen this before:

LOVE everything on that list. Not necessarily agreeing with Mr Norris in terms of the top 20, mine probably changes every few years....months.....don't know if I'm brave enough to do it actually, too much to leave out.

Incidentally, does anyone remember a fanzine called 117? They had a great series on UK psych 45s running through the issues. I've got the last 4 (out of 9 I think) issues, and they are a real hoot.
If anyone has earlier issues, I'm interested.

I Googled 117 fanzine to find out more about it. Not much luck but found this good thread from VG+ on Fake Bands (http://www.verygoodplus.co.uk/showthread.php/27189-do-these-records-really-exist).

Not helpful in your quest I know but I suspect you'll find it an interesting read.
