I remember a fellow student at art college thirty years ago saying how timeless the Barcelona pavilion was. It's now thirty years later and the words are still true.

Cool stuff.

Mies rocks. On a related note, I have a 'This Is Not The Universe' blog post coming up in the next couple of days about Basil Spence.

Have always considered the Brno to be more iconic. Certainly easier to find and afford anyway!

Best, Sean

top stuff (http://thisisnottheuniverse.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/god-comes-to-midlands.html), GK

I would guess a church near to where I work is a Basil Spence (but on a smaller scale). Not the best pic, unfortunately.
The minimalist spire is way more imposing. I want to live in it.

Another Basil. Duncanrig Senior School.
In the 50s it must've felt like something strange had landed in the village.

Have you checked out the Smithson's school at Hunstanton, Ian? Modernism and education, should be right up your strasse!

I spent 2 years there!
Mister Gooch used to call it brutalism at its bestial best but I just remember it as being blooming freezing all the time!
